Trent Hellerstein
Double Bass
Trent Hellerstein received a Bachelor of Music degree “with distinction” from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music from the Juilliard School which he attended on a Naumberg scholarship. He has additional studies from the Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute and the Sarasota Music Festival. Professionally, Trent began his career as a member of the Houston Ballet orchestra. He has been principal bass of the Texas Chamber Orchestra and the New American Chamber Orchestra. He has also been guest principal of the New York City Opera National Company, Stavanger Symfoniorkester, and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León. In the ambit of original performance practice, Trent has performed with the Philadelphia Classical Orchestra, Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra Barroca Catalana, Estil Concertant of Valencia, and the Real Compañía Opera de Cámara. Trent has been professor of double bass and chamber music at the Vermont Mozart Festival and the American Festival of the Arts. Currently, he is professor of double bass at the Escola Luthier de Barcelona and at the Escola Municipal de Música de les Franqueses. He is solo bassist with the Orquestra Nacional de Cambra d’Andorra and is a frequent collaborator with the Orquestra Sinfònica de Barcelona and the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu.
