MARCOS GIMÉNEZ BLAYA
Jazz Piano, modern piano
Born in Valencia in 1996, Marcos is a pianist, producer and teacher with a passion for music.
He began his journey through music at the early age of 6 years old, playing some melodies by ear with the piano he had at home. At 12 years old he begins his trajectory through regulated musical education, entering the music school that had recently be founded by his school, receiving classes from the pianist Andrés Vanaclocha. In 2014 he begins his Mathematics studies at the University of Valencia, simultaneously studying Jazz Piano
at the Yamaha Music School Valencia, with the pianist and producer who graduated from Berklee, plus founder and director of the school, Ricardo Curto.
In 2015 he discovered his passion for music teaching and began teaching piano lessons in Valencia, in addition to expanding his musical studies on musical production for audiovisual media and big band arrangements, taught by David Antolín and Jesús Santandreu respectively. He finally decides to dedicate himself full time to the study of Jazz Piano and the advanced course in Jazz and Modern Music begins in 2017 at the Taller de Músics
ESEM. During his time at the Taller de Músics, Marcos has received classes from notable pianists such as Mark Aanderud, Joan Monné, Toni Vaquer and Sergi Sirvent, in addition to attending masterclasses from great musicians such as Jacob Collier, Bill Frisell, Jorge Rossy or Ernesto Aurignac.
He finishes his higher education studies in 2021 by presenting a concert with an interactive improvisation quartet, offering concertgoers an app for
smartphone where they could control the different variables of the musical show that was taking place.
Likewise, during the development of his musical studies, Marcos has worked in different musical projects, both on stage and in the studio. He is the main pianist from the band Bertt Que since 2018; pianist, arranger and producer for Mireia Fowler since 2020; and he has collaborated in musical projects such as Edgar Blues Trio, or the May 2022 Spanish tour of Tyrone Vaughan. Furthermore, he has played on numerous occasions with sporadic formations of duo/trio on terraces, restaurants, hotels and events, both in Valencia and Barcelona, highlighting among them the Jardins de Pedralbes Festival of 2022, or the Santako Blues Festival 2022.
The varied musical career that Marcos has at his disposal, along with his ability to teach what he is passionate about it, have led him to teach piano lessons for almost ten years, both in person as online through his own website. His experience with music and teaching has turned him into a dedicated and respectful teacher of music, who seeks to get the best out of each student regardless of their level or age, providing techniques, knowledge and tools to develop his independence as a musician and learner of this beautiful art.
